My Review

This book essentially provides every girl's ideal scenario: two hunky guys fighting it out over her. Except, choosing between the two isn't as easy a decision to make as you would suppose. Not when one is saying that he'll "fix" you, while the other's asking you to break. I find that this is what sets Unbreak Me apart from other books; there isn't really a villain, just the characters dealing with hard issues and bad people making the task difficult. Normally the good guy wants to do one of the following: either fix the female lead, or catch her when she falls. The jerk is supposed to want the absolute worst for her, but what do you do when both men are "good" guys?



The characters were what sold Unbreak Me; I loved Maggie and Asher, even William! I would never want to be in her shoes, because they both obviously care a good deal about her, they just have differing notions of what Maggie needs.

Maggie herself is a complicated and jaded character. Nothing could have prepared me for what I eventually learn of her; you think you know what it means to carry around baggage, but not the kind Maggie's hauling. She is dealing with A LOT and in a small town where nobody forgets, jeering calls of "Lucy" (Loose-ey, get it?), have long since become synonymous with her given name. The whole town thinks she's a slut, even her family, but I won't spoil that, and you can't help but wonder how the character lasted as long without shattering into a million pieces.

Asher's like this sexy rocker who sees the cracks and knows something's about to break. Maggie wears the slut tag like a badge and outwardly doesn't mind what a lot of people think about her. She's not looking for serious, but Asher's not about to trifle with Maggie. He's the guy telling her she deserves better, but that'll happen only if she starts being honest with herself and him.

This is where William and Asher agree, that Maggie needs to let someone in, but that is where the similarities end. He's loved Maggie for longer than Asher and he is at the ready to stop the wedding with her sister should Maggie say the word, though it would have been nice if he hadn't gotten engaged to her in the first place. I thought I'd hate William for putting the sister's in that predicament, but I saw how conflicted he was since he really did love them both, but in different ways. You know the drill.

In the end, it really did come down to Maggie and what she needed. I was torn because my loyalties had 100% switched to William by the end, and I really wanted him to be happy, but healing does come for Maggie and that is all that really matters. This is among my favourite New Adult novels, it's mature and involves sexual situations and coarse language, so be wary. Other than that, Unbreak Me receives a solid 4/5 genies from my end.

Packed with unexpected twists and heartbreak, Unbreak Me is memorable and beautiful, a fantastic New Adult novel!

My Thoughts

What to say about 'This Side of the Grave'? Maybe I should start off with the simple statement: 'It didn't suck'. It was good, really good actually and I was going to give this a 4 until near-the end when Bones's interaction with a poltergeist had me laughing so hard I was sure my parents would pick up the phone and dial the mental asylum, RIGHT. THEN.

Lol, good times though! Worth spending time in a straight jacket against padded walls, that's for sure. Okay maybe not, but I considered it.

First off, I really love the covers of this series, they are so unique and edgy there isn't much else of an option BUT to pick one up. The title also rocks, and props to Frost for always incorporating the word 'Grave' in there, Big Ups! It's distinct to the series and I appreciate that. Personally though I found this the heaviest,(content-wise), and was crippled at parts like say, the death of a very important character. THAT had me in tears, so not pretty. It was incredibly painful to read through, and yet Frost just kept tempting and edging me forward until it was all read and I was feeling lower than dirt...Until I kept reading on and saw the end that made it truly worth while! Fabulous ending and gloriously written, a little bit of a cliff-hanger, but I am hanging on until August for the next one!

So now that you know of my definitive plans to catch the next book, let me plunge into the remainder of my review for this one. Why I felt it weird at parts was because they were character couples that I wasn't familiar and sharply bombarded with,(here is where I suggest you pick up the 'Night Huntress World' novels before reading this because you will be more familiar with the pairings of Kira and Mencheres as well as Spade and Denise that way.) Not to mention Denise's shape-shifting! That was a shocker, I was expecting that almost as much as the realization that my Main-Man Mencheres was nuzzling and grinding against some chick I did not know.

I didn't hate Kira, I just did not know her. It was like popping a helium balloon without informing anyone. One minute it's nice and serene and then the next? Boom! Where did that blast come from and WHY do you not have hair anymore? See, shocking. I raised an brow when she got all snarky about Cat pushing Mencheres to do better in his attempts to read the future because I love Cat, and I will not have some woman sass her. No. Way.

But I'd heard of her, I have the 'Eternal Kiss' in my to-read category so I know their story, I just wish someone would have pointed out the order in which to read them; then maybe I wouldn't have wanted to flog Kira. Possibly.

Next was Denise: I love Denise to death because of her alcoholic ways - so much like Cat - but again all of a sudden I see spouses formed out of the blue and then them being territorial. What is this, a snarling party? Bring your own 'tude and sass? Not cool. Spade has always been my gentleman and then to see him suddenly glare Cat down because she asked her best friend a favor for the good of their race as well as the ghouls? Not the guy I knew, that's for sure. What happened to the understanding Baron, did he die somewhere along the way from the previous book to here?

Not to mention Marie! While I'm reeling from weird character turns there goes Marie making me hate her for a good 10 chapters!

I was furious, thinking what was going on?! The only people that seemed constant were Vlad, Bones and Ian...Until the end. Thank God it worked out well in the end! Apollyon got what was coming to him and I officially want Ian and Veritas as a couple! They are my secret desire. Another desire is of course Tate and Cat. I know, what about Bones, right? Well if Bones were to die I'd want 'Cate' to happen (see the merging there!?) He loves her with this burning intensity that makes me weak, I love that! So God forbid Bones were to pass, Tate would be the man for the job. There, cast the first stone if you have never CONSIDERED the pair and I'll listen, but if not join the club!

I enjoyed the mystery of trying to defeat Apollyon, that was prime, man! The combover went down....Haha I am a little pleased okay, bite me! But you know what's better yet? Reading this novel. It is awesome and I urge you not to jump to conclusions like I did. Catch the 'Night Huntress World' books before this one though, it'll make a butt load more of sense regarding the supporting characters. Note: there are scenes of intercourse so watch out for that if you happen to be younger.

I rate this read 4.5 genies because I can't resist a good Exorcist threat when it comes along! Immature I know, and I love it.

One helluva a read, spectacular in the very most parts, tugging rightly at the heartstrings, this book will warm your heart as it did with mine.

My Thoughts

Just finished this! I thought it flowed well and I adored Graf, although the chemistry between him and Jessa was mostly based on sexual attraction. Like holy-moly you're foxy and I'm into hick/sexy farm chicks. I think I love you?

Just saying. I would have liked this novel 10 times more if there was something deeper to their connection, not just that they were stuck together, needed each other for protection, oh and they were both REALLY hot so they got together. It kind of made it look like sex was casual and to me it's something very special.

But other than that I liked Jessa too, if I was stranded in her situation I'd probably go crazy! Derek got what was coming to him, he was a jerk and not worth anyone's timenot to mention an all time loserso enough said. Other than that, fabulous cover and interesting read. Was it the best ever? By far, no. But it was interesting.

My younger readers, be warned and watch out for the sex!

This novel had its perks, I wouldn't read it again, but it was an okay read.

My Thoughts

This review comes late and that is simply due to the fact that my computer's mouse has indefinitely gone rogue. We cannot find it and I know that waiting any longer would simply prolong my views on this work. And what a piece of work it is! Ah, this book was so refreshing I cannot begin anywhere else but at the very beginning. And why not?Maria certainly thought that was a very good place to start.

Alright so my terrible 'Sound of Music' pun aside, I want to dive in by saying I was sceptic as to just how 'good' this book could be. I mean let me be frank: most 2nd books in a series tend to suck, period. It scares me, really it does, because I intend to have MANY 2nd books in the years to come; and yet everyone else who ventures towards writing a sequel comes up with a lacklustre piece of work. Maybe because working with characters you've used before is...tricky? I don't know! All I know is that I want to avoid that road as much as I'd like the bubonic plague.

Frost did. She made me love Bones again and again. To the point that I was almost wishing for a piece of silver to take Cat down with, but I loved her too much. I love it when an author does that, makes me feel like a giant hypocrite but it keeps me coming back. Maybe I like being told what's-what?

Naw, that isn't it! I just really love Bones, and really like Cat.

These two just keep getting better! They are such thick characters that I can imagine them without even trying, I can feel their pain and joys. They are People-Characters. I loved the plot and give it a smashing 5/5, it was excellent! Also, I thought I would never say this, but I love Cat's mom. Seriously her banter with Bones had my side splitting, it was perfect! I was like 'Bwahahaha ahaahahahaha haaaa!!' all the way through. Yes, I did look insane, thank you for asking!

But back to 'One foot in the Grave'. What else can I say but that it all kind of rightly flowed? Because that was what it did, I didn't feel lost at all and like I'd followed exactly where 'Halfway to the Grave' left off. It was incredible, just the thing I needed and I'm glad I listened to some crazy friends on here who insisted it would be 'worth it'.

Hey guys? It was. Excellent story and compelling characters demand a perfect 5! Way to go Frost, you up and broke the curse.

My Thoughts

Okay so here I go to FINALLY get around to writing up a review for this! I think because it's been so long this review will be brief, I'll rate Characters and plot and point out the strong as well as weak parts to this read. So without further adieu, here goes:

Plot: I really adore the way this author is so capable at making the reader forget. Really, when I read any of her books it makes me leave my world for a little to be with Cat and Bones and I am so grateful for that! This book in the 'Night Huntress' series follows Cat and Bones as they face a new terror: Gregor, Cat's first husband!

Characters: Cat and Bones are as entrancing as ever, they never will get dull, that is one thing I am certain of. The characters are always so fresh and something interesting is always happening! I cried for some of them. Tate was also fantastic. It is so weird because I feel for him, I really do, but the sole thought of Cat and Bones apart is not a pleasant one. My dreams for 'Cate' aside, I don't want to see Cat or Bones separated.

Which is precisely why I hated Gregor! Man he took possessiveness to a whole other level.[when he was hitting Cat after he found out that she slept with Bones? Just sickening, my stomach was in knots. I was glad when he died. (hide spoiler)]

Vlad did not disappoint and I'm so ecstatic that my Dark Prince gets his own series!!! I cannot wait. He is such a well-rounded character, and in this book Frost did good by him.

Setting: It was great. I especially loved the New Orleans setting, the Big Easy was perfectly depicted. Plus, all those ghosts made for such a hauntingly pleasing atmosphere.

H.M. (honorable mention): This title goes to Marie - the ghoul Queen and my hero! Man she's got a twisted sense of humor, and I like it. She will always be alright with me and she only helped the book, which is a lot more than I can say for other characters in other novels. I do not understand the point of planting a character only to have them contribute absolutely nothing. That is what frustrates me and I am glad it did not happen here.

P.A. (problem areas): I didn't like the pace of this book as much as the others. It was fast-paced as always but still it dragged a little on certain parts, and being one not always high on patience, I despised the wait leading to the resolution between Cat and Gregor! Still this series is the bomb and is it any wonder I plan on reading everything by this author?

There are erotic scenes and crass language, so mind that if you are younger. If not, grab a copy!

My Thoughts

Out of all the three Night Huntress books read, this one has got to be the saddest; it was dark and edgy but very good. This one picks up where the other left and Cat is having some problems: her disguise is through and the Undead world know who she is; it helps however that she has Bones by her side. He's back too and I don't want to give what happens away, but he is a whole of a lot stronger.

Which makes him so much hotter! I felt like he was a king through all of this, really. Bones will always be smoking to me, the only ones that remotely rivalled him were Spade...and Mencheres... And Vlad...and kind of Ian in a weird way, but that was IT. Lol who am I kidding?! They were all smoking! I love Frost for her fine men, she's a gem with a truck-load of talent.

She knows her characters and definitely how to spin a plot. She made me laugh and cry almost simultaneously and one thing in particular wrenched at my heart through this book. I won't give what away, but know that for those few chapters that I believed it was true, I was in turmoil. I asked myself if it could really be happening and was delighted when things were okay again, that gave me such a scare!

Bones is crackling with Vamp energy and all is good in the world of the Undead and Judith!

But I'll keep this brief; this book was amazing. I refrained from giving it a 5 because Although it is good I have read better from this author. Bones and Cat still rock, but there was the lightness that I love about them missing, they were in so much pain I don't see how I couldn't feel that. I guess being at war will do that to people, and yet this work is an example of great control. Frost knows what she's doing, as I have mentioned before, and entices the help of characters such as Vlad to make up for the necessary seriousness by being comically full of it. He's officially one of my favourites.

I finished it in a day and a half (a new record) and will pick up the remaining two today...or tomorrow? Someday this week! But the bottom line is this was fantastic, and I want more.

My Thoughts

This book had sex. It seems like a weird thing to say, but more importantly this book WAS sexy. I enjoyed it, and though hardly naive I hadn't been expecting sex per se. Still it was a ride from start to finish and I really want to start this review by digging in...

One thing I can say about Ms. Frost is that she is a writer after my own heart. Her prose is thoughtful without being drab and hard-thought, she knows well how to make a story flow. I didn't feel like I might have had someone else tried to tell this story, because only Frost could make it really something stellar. No it was reflective and fun, like you're reading a recap from your best friend. Yeah, I met a smoldering hot vampire, what of it?! Not...

'OMFG. I MET A VAMPIRE. I WANT TO HAVE HIS UNDEAD OFFSPRING! WHAT, IT HAS ONLY BEEN A MINUTE SINCE? YAY, THIS WILL LAST FOREVER!'

NO!

Cat was so cautious about the decisions she made, I loved it. I adore a heroine that enjoys to think. She weighed everything out and didn't go running after Bones like some lovelorn Mary Sue. I loved her. But certainly not more than I love Bones, If I ever wanted an undead Boyfriend, he would be it. Really I have prejudice's against British men because rarely have I seen one HOT. There's Prince Harry but other than him all I see are stuck-up men with pale skin and a quickly balding Prince to rule them. Sorry William! Needless to say, I did not watch the royal wedding. Not only did I forget when it was, but I believe people tend to marry every day and to glorify one figurehead for getting hitched is a concept foreign to me.

Nothing against William or Kate, I am just thoroughly waned by the stickers and post stamps and collectible engagement rings EVERYWHERE. Really people, REALLY?! Anyway, Bones definitely changed that for me. He was smooth and dangerous and I wanted him sorely, that is why I am determined to read all the books in this series and anything else by Frost, because just like Cat I love a vampire named Bones.

I liked this book more than I thought I would and loved how real everything felt. It was gory and heart-tugging and totally took over my life for what...2 days? Sounds about right!

What drew me to this novel was the fabulous blurb at the back and the believable characters, the reviews for it were high and I decided to check it out! As you can expect, I'm glad I did and I'm waiting for my library to send me the 2nd book.

Again there is profanity and sensuality, so keep that in mind, but I give 'Halfway to the Grave' 5 giant blood-pouches. Sink your teeth into that, folks.

My Thoughts

It has been a few days since I finished reading this and thought to write the review, finally. I enjoyed it, the book was very crisp and the characters very likable, plus I finally got where Spade's crazy protectiveness comes from! I see why he was miffed at Cat for calling Denise to shape shift in book #5, because who wouldn't worry - what, with what happened to Giselda as a forever example of all that could go wrong? yikes!

Denise was lovely, really I haven't admired a heroine (except for Cat) like I did Denise! She was truly admirable and loved her family so much to the point that she was willing to sacrifice everything for their happiness; even in the face of Raum she was brave! So Denise officially has my devotion, and big ups to Frost for making me love my Spade even more again. It was a close one, but I almost disliked Spade! *gasp*

But I have learnt my lesson! Off I go to the grading.

Plot: I have come to expect gorgeous and excellent plots from this author. She has such a way with words, and her ideas string perfectly! Let it never be said that Frost is predictable, because even with the things that may hint as simple, they are never quite just that. I relished the adventure of them trying to free her from the bands, but the action was very real and I liked that.

Spade and Denise really where made for each other and I am thrilled to give this plot full marks on how they came together.

Characters: The characters have got to be my favorite aspect to this writer's work; they are always so round and concrete. I knew what I was reading because the author knew what she was about. She made the parts of Denise, Spade and even Ian consistent! I also enjoyed Nathaniel and thought him adorable for the most part, he was a great addition to the story!

Denise was this firecracker and though I have always loved her, I went gaga almost for how controlled she was, girl has tolerance. She's this frugal spender whereas Spade just loves to roll those dollar bills! Their combination was stellar.

Setting: Because I did not pay great attention to the settings does not mean that they sucked, simply that there were other things occupying my mind...

And Bones...

And Ian...

Still, when I think of the descriptions I remember them being to the point and clear. I can fault nothing.

H.M(honorable mention): Has got to go to Ian! I think the thing I appreciate most about this character is his tenderness and true care for his friends, they are like his family and while his actions might sometimes say differently, he does love them. That had me all warm and fuzzy inside and I love him regardless of that unfortunate decision. [his penis piercing. We all make mistakes! (hide spoiler)]

P.A(problem areas): Would have to be the resolution of the bands. I cannot give too much away but I wished something different for Denise and her bands. But other than that? I'm all good!

And is there any wonder this book is a 5/5? I think not! Watch out for erotic scenes and language if you are younger, but if not grab a copy. I really do love this book!

My Thoughts

Why I liked this book: Duh, It's by Richelle Mead! Seriously you guys should be asking how I could not like this next installment in the Vampire Academy series. It was an engrossing ride with loads of ups and trademark Hathaway humor and I adored how the truth of Zmey came out. Smokey's on toast! That was a delightful surprise and I loved having him in this book. I also enjoyed:

- Olena, she was everything that I expected Dimitri's mother to be and more. Let me point out that my thoughts at the beginning and in regards to the blood whores in general swayed more towards images of a cave/ primitive society comprised of scantily clad women converged to take care of their illegitimate babies, and occasionally participate in skeevy unprotected sex. Hey, let the imagination be! But yes, that is what came to mind and I don't blame myself for thinking that way.

Everyone in the VA world is always talking about how slutty and cheap they are! And yet Olena was just sweet and awesome. Loved her.

- Bahaha! I could not live without Yeva in this book! The Woman is boss, my friends! She's just so capable and mysterious...I can't wait for more of her. Also the hell she put Rose through? Absolutely priceless.

- The overall connection between the girls, Rose and Lissa. It was really touching to see that Rose still took the time to check up on her friend and the fact that they really missed each other was made very evident. These two are the best friends, ever.

- How can I not mention Abe? Guy is a pimp-master general. Period. If for nothing else people should pick this next book strictly to find out more about him, really, it will be well worth it.


What I didn't like: Honestly? The lenght. I don't think that this book needed to be 500+ pages, and I realize that some do, but a lot of time and ink could have been saved if the action got along sooner. Sydney's presence was necessary for the world-building aspect and the introduction of the Alchemist's as a Strigoi-clean-up service/M.I.B.-type organization, but not for much else; and actually I found her pretty annoying.

Chicks who whine about being size 2 grate on my nerves in ways that you cannot imagine. When you're on an 800 calorie diet and trying to lose a minimum of 30 pounds by the end of the year? You can talk. Watching her dance over food when she was more than tiny became very irritating. Instead of feeling compassion/pity for her obvious lack in self-esteem I wanted to start my flamethrower. True story.

- I also hated seeing Dimitri this way, as a Strigoi, man it killed me. I have so many feelings for him that reading him dark and twisted wrenched like a knife. I want Dimka back! The dynamics of his relationship with Rose were also altered and when they were together I didn't know what to feel. Here was this Strigoi, but he was so much like Dimitri sometimes that hating him was impossible. I get why it must have been so hard for Rose!

H.M. (honorable mention): Goes to Yeva and Abe, because characters like these make a book stellar.

P.A.(problem areas): Like I mentioned, the length leaves much to be desired, but all in all this book was far from bad.

My Thoughts

So this graphic is pretty much perfect. Pretty much, meaning that I'd change the pace to something much slower since the story is pretty quick. Then again it is a graphic and can't be as long as the novel itself. 200+ pages is decent for any graphic, length-wise, so there aren't many grievances there, I honestly enjoyed it! The characters seemed very true to themselves and were fabulously drawn.

That is except Lissa. I hate how pale she seemed! So what if she's a vampire?! She's supposed to be super-model glamorous and Lissa just wasn't and neither was Christian. They were alright and a far cry from the hotness described in the books, I was kind of disappointed. Also Rose's eyes were tiny! I loved how her figure was drawn - perfect to my imagination - but her eyes were miniscule peas. Shootness! I was appalled. How could the fabulous artists of this ultra-cool graphic capture sumptuous curves and fail at eyes?? Man, it still puzzles me.

Luckily... there was Dimitri!!! WOOT. WOOT. Ladies, if any of you are even mildly as creepy as me when it comes to their fictional crushes and visualizing them and if Dimitri Belikov happens to be near the top of that list? This book is so for you. Wow, he was beautiful...and perfect...and all I imagined him to be.

Haha, so while every book has its weaknesses, it also has its own major plus points. The important thing, is that the positives by far outweigh the negatives. Luckily, this is very much the case! Beware of that steamy half-naked scene, but otherwise this one isn't a V.A. addition to be missed. Get it!

My Thoughts

To be honest, I enjoyed Friday Night Bites a lot more than I did Some Girls Bite! Not only is the title carefully relevant to the very interesting plot, but the characters really grew on me in this one.

My opinion of Merit was so-so after Some Girls Bite because I wasn't sure if she could be a good heroine; weird to say, I know, but I've dealt with the likes of Cat Crawfield, here! And I can certainly tell a good heroine from a lame one, I know my stuff. Enough said. It wasn't that she isn't well-written - Neill did her research - but Merit just seemed so confused in the last one, (and who could blame her with the vampire in her broken). Luckily she managed to redeem herself.

Whereas in the previous book I felt almost an intruder, staring warily at the on-goings from a vantage point, here I knew the characters I was working with, and what to expect. It was a really great feeling to have. Chicago is the ultimate setting for this series, it just can't work anywhere else, and the Windy City really captured my heart. As did Ethan Sullivan. Again.

I think I may be developing a severe affinity to fictional boys, and someone, please don't help me. My man-crushes in the books I read trump those of the real variety every day. Because they are smoking hot and I don't have to take lip if they start bugging, that's what the other glossy part that looks like the cover is for, I can just as easily shut them out. That's Heaven; no more troublesome boy problems! But I'm not halting anyone out there - all you chemist and Einstein brainies, you! - from attempting to bring to life all these stud-muffins, go ahead! I'll just have to console myself with the paper copies until then. *Sigh*



Now before I ball out my eyes, I should return to the matter at hand, which is of course this review.

It was an adventure, entertaining and especially near the end, unputdownable. I won't spoil it, but stuff goes down during the last couple hundred pages and everything else aside, you will be thrilled you stayed on the band-wagon until the end! I'm glad I did. While I'm still not a fan of Mallory (or Catcher for that matter).[I think my dislike for him literally spiked after he bit into Merit during that session! Not only was that totally unfair and out of line of him, (he is her coach/best-friend's boyfriend he had no right tearing her apart like that).
(1) It wasn't his place, it was their fight and his job wasn't to choose sides, least of all berate Merit. She took his lashing out well, but I wouldn't have, he can't condescend to people just because of his looks! (2) Isn't Catcher usually about keeping things professional? It was startling to see him do such a round-about just for a girl he spontaneously started having weird sorcerer-sex with 2 months ago. (hide spoiler)]

The two of them are still really iffy in my opinion. Is Mal sweet? Yes, she's a great friend to Merit, but the deal with her being a sorceress still seems so scrambled and weird; I mean I need serious explanation, pronto. It is especially hard, I think, because this series is told through Merit's eyes and while she obviously does not live with the two anymore, it makes following Mallory and Catcher's Sorcery Adventures, near-impossible. Neill clearly wanted them to have pivotal roles in this series and that is where I think she flounders. Simply said, a book should not be so focussed on its secondary characters, the readers care more about the protagonist that, is why they buy the books that are about them.

I do not give a hoot as to the going-ons of Mallory and Catcher's relationship woes or magic drama, I care about Cadogen House and the important drama, nothing more. So with that said, I can only add that I'm still reeling about how everything works together - how did Catcher and Mallory know each other from before, why are they suddenly not friends anymore, (Mal and Merit), and where does the important information go most of the time - I am still searching.

There were a couple times I had to sit back and be like: "Ok, so how did we get here again?" *insert brow furrows and caveman-like thinking accompanied by Yankee Doodle background music* before finally, "Oh, that's how? It was a little confusing."




*The real Yankee Doodle appears and nods in agreement, because he is naturally a fan of this series as well! We are in agreement.* Some things had this weird way of going 360 degrees in a circle until truths were gradually explained. I describe Ms. Neill's prose as unique, no book is perfect. She has her own style and I appreciate that. More importantly, I found myself really liking a lot of other things that ultimately out-shadowed those dark areas.

Like the insane chemistry between Ethan and Merit, for instance. Wowza those two are just little fire-crackers on fire around each other, their intensity is smoldering and so truly captivating that I read specifically to witness their banter-filled interactions. I was completely satisfied, so much so that I'm working on the next book right now, I can't get enough! [And just how sweet is it that Ethan drugged Merit to keep her from the pain?!? *Swoon* I am so in love! Waiting the days down until the 30th for One Grave at a Time is becoming not so hard of a task at all! (hide spoiler)]

They are so perfect together and I want them as a couple, ASAP! Thankfully Morgan is out of the picture soon enough and that ridiculous relationship bids sayonara - never trusted that one - and I get to reach my Merit-Ethan quota. The problems I feel are significant have been mentioned already and I find myself content - not completely satisfied, yet - but happy with what I got out of this read. It gets a solid 4 from me.

But in other news, Yankee and I will journey through the next two books together and see more of our newly favorite coupled. Until then, we bid you adieu.

My Thoughts

So this book was good. I really liked it and I loved that my Main-Man Mencheres got his little breakaway novel!! I mean me and Kira had our issues, but I'll get into that in a moment. Let me just start off by stating how much I love this author! She is AMAZING. Her ability to capture a character's emotion is truly inspiring and that is why she is my hero.

Lol so maybe I don't love her that much, but I do enough - not in a creepy way, if you are reading this, Mrs. Frost! Haha so I'm done talking, and before I get banned from gushing, I'm going to head right into my review:

Plot: Man this plot was a doozy I mean really, there was so much history with Menchere's origin (WOW), and then the curve balls practically flying from Rajedef! It was fantastic to read, and surprised me ten times over. I do not blame my slower reading pace on the novel's ability to interest, In that regard it was very capable, I was the one at fault. Something boring called life kept getting in the way.




I didn't really have time to devote to this book like I did to other's by this author, and if you check out my track record this has got to be the longest period of time that I have taken to read something from Frosty Goodness, as I will now call her. (Except for 'Halfway to the Grave' maybe, but that was before I was really hooked.)

Life is just a pain and a lot of times it gets in the way. That maxim seemed particularly true with Mencheres! My buddy really had it hard until Kira showed up. I believe that is the reason I will just accept her; not that I like her, but because she makes Mencheres happy. I won't dream of hacking her head off anymore, I can't promise anything else but that's a start!

Setting: As with most of her novels Frost does change the locations often. They are In Mexico one second before flying off to Chicago the next! Another thing I loved. Her diversity is a quality that made every book before this engaging and will surely continue to do the same with all her future endeavors; not to mention how aptly they were described! She really does have talent, but my regret lies at not exploring the Mayan ruins more!! I really wanted Mencheres or someone to have to scour the place for Kira and instead we just got a very brief line or two about it. Ah, I guess i'll have to wait and see in a couple years!

Characters: Were all great except Kira, sorry, not a fan. Maybe I see her as the other woman, or possibly it is just her character, but a lot of things bothered me about her! I despised how her sense of protectiveness came off as pushy, I wanted to tell her to step off more than once! She was annoying and constantly acting as though Menchere's friends did not care for him when really she hasn't been there since the beginning of his life either!

Also, her talk with Cat came off as self-righteous. Ugh, I disliked her even more after reading this book and she isn't the kind of person I would get on with at all. I like Cat and Denise better and hope Vlad's chika is a lot less like Kira. Blame the newborn vampire thing, but I couldn't care less, chick be tripping and I suppose that really is the reason she didn't have many friends as a human!

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MENCHERES!!!! He was so elegant and smooth and Mama was he sexy! He just made me melt...over, and over, and over again.

H.M. (Honorable Mention): Goes to Vlad! Haha I adore my Romanian Count! Thank you Frosty Goodness for redeeming yourself with him after the disaster that is Kira! I hope to see a lot more of him in future, he just lights up a book and it is not solely because of his fire power! Guy is very fine.

P.A. (Problem Areas): The only thing I would say Frost really needs to work on is probably producing more likable characters. The Originals like Cat, Bones, Vlad, Spade, Ian and the rest are golden, but I am not liking the near future. That being Kira whose character is supposed to come off as hard and tough, just succeeds in only grinding my nerves. I want more people to cheer on, not hate, and I can understand where she was going with Kira. It just never reached for me and it cost the rating of the book 1 whole point. I cannot wait for more from this author and I pray she channels that awesome creativity into molding someone very attractive to the reader!

And overall it was a great read. Warnings are out for younger BookWorms, there is very passionate and deprived sex going on in this book so stave from reading this if what I am writing applies to you. Otherwise I give it a flushing four genies! Oh and props to the person who decided to make this cover ten billion times better than Spade's! Not to slam a homey, but he looked like such a creep in 'First Drop of Crimson'! No shiz, it really did suck and Menchere's cover is somewhat better, but I am not feeling the fake blood.

I think that could be a problem area ready for improvement... 4/5 Genies!

My Thoughts

This one, in my opinion, was the most enjoyable of all three. Also, Merit's real name is not that bad for all of you out there wondering. They made a very successful movie with that name and Vampire Diaries (my guilty pleasure) features it as well. It is actually pretty and a little back story into why Merit hates it, would be appreciated.

But back to business. Let me start off by saying, Twice Bitten has got to be my favorite book in the series - so far. It had everything I wanted and I hated that it took me 2 days to finish; I'm trying to get to the point where I can do 300+ pages in a single day, this book certainly deserved to be read in one.

Were there problems?: Yes. I think my library bought one of the earlier editions published of this book and I found maybe 2 typos. Distracting, yes, but not unbearable - just a little bit of a stumbling block. Just barely noticeable.

Eh, the whole social mixer mentioned in Friday Night Bites never took off, and I do not remember if Neill really mentioned why. Obviously I can see why - what with the shifter threat looming and other drama - but she should have made it more important. I mean this is Merit's punishment and instead of that kind of vibe, I got that it was an unfortunate assignment.

Also the name thing with the Keene siblings was puzzling. Why didn't their mother just name the oldest starting from A and then go down to G, why the other way around?

Biiig Ups: To Catcher! He's working his way into my heart and standing up for Merit makes me think that he can't be all that bad, really. And his relationship with Mal seems more legitimate this time around. They consummated a little soon for my liking, but they care a lot about each other and I can accept that. To all you teens out there though, do not go around bed-hopping. Want a sport? Take up volleyball. Sex is for married couples, it works only for Catcher and Mallory because they are fictional and by law of H.A.E. they will eventually marry. The guy/girl who knocks you up does not have to abide by such rules and hence, could leave you pregnant without a moment's notice. It has happened to friends of mine, so don't copy everything you see.

Also a huge shout out to Gabriel Keene, I couldn't be more pleased with his and his sibling's addition to the series, I hope for good things. They were this clan of terribly good-looking males, and I was in Heaven!

The Mystery: surrounding Gabe's son makes me think...Is there something in store here? Can't wait! It has something to do with Merit though...Hm.

The Romance: Had me hooting and grinning like a crazy hat! Ethan and Merit are undoubtedly a favorite couple of mine and their love for each other - which it is - burns me inside. Ah, I was satisfied and gratefully pleased for the change in Ethan. I love to see a character develop and this change was one long-awaited.

Overall: Neill does not disappoint! If you've read the others this one is a must-have you can't possibly pass up on. Be mindful of a sex scene in particular if you fall under the underaged category, but pick up this book if you don't! Also mild-coarse language may ensue.

My Thoughts

Creepy does not even come close to describing this book. I wanted to like it, and even put in an honest effort into reading the first couple chapters, however it royally sucked. The characters were all so trashy and the author's attempt at making them seem different from every other YA Paranormal stereo-type really didn't come across very well.

Many of the people featured in this book have serious issues and I could never get into it because of how unrelatable the characters were to me. The guys have issues, the girls need to learnt that skanky behavior is not in. All of them should see someone about the possible STD's contracted during one of their ridiculously skeevy parties and Smith needs to learn that twisted literature like this is NOT Y. A. It is mature. Trying to make a quick buck by marketing the book out to "Fans of Twilight" is a technique that is getting pretty old for me fast, and especially when the content boarders highly on being a little too adult.

I enjoyed the cover and thought that it was pretty for a while - hence why I bought it - but eventually the compounded weirdness of everyone just grew too much to handle. This book is weird. Save yourself the money, I kind of regret now that I didn't. The only thing going for this book is the creativeness of its concept, I have never seen anything like this before. If you want something different, a little bit startling, and do not mind the tad slowness in terms of pace, this book could work better for you. It just didn't do it at all for me.

Verdict: Something saved this book from completely sucking. Otherwise, it would be forgettable at the very best, and yet, there were redeemable qualities somewhere.

My Thoughts

Abrupt, like that lovely picture of Homer, would be the only way to describe my experience with Some Girls Bite. I felt suddenly thrust into Chicago and the World of Merit/Cadogen House; and having never visited said destination, I experienced certain trials relating.

For those of you who don't know, Canada is cold. Really cold. It also kind of sucks to live here, (sometimes), and seeing the world through Merit's eyes was not always easy because Chicagoans have it easier than we do. Also because the characters all seemed established - the relationships, Merit's life and profession - even her waking up in a limo, aware of vampire existence and suddenly one herself seemed like events taken place in a previous book. I took to Mallory - an excellent character and best friend - but adjusting to this time where vamps have outed themselves to the public, took almost half the book for me.

Ultimately though, I'm glad I stuck with it. Neill paints an excellent location for this story, and while I was expecting some kind of vamp sorority life out of Cadogen House, complete with its very own hazing and bullies - don't blame me I dealt with crazy Monica from Morganville before picking this - I got business and professionalism instead. The Cadogen vampires have a system and only 100+ vampires actually live in the mansion with head honcho, (and total hottie), Ethan Sullivan. The other 200 something work in the city and provide the house dollar, while those who guard the building get money from the House. For that I have to say not bad, Neill! The idea for that was brilliant and totally ingenue and I give her props for that. I eventually adjusted, settled into the feel of this author, and enjoyed her humor and easy prose once I found myself.

The plot was easy enough to follow along with; I particularly disliked the Sorcerer undertone to the story, and how abruptly that seemed to wedge itself into Merit's tale. Catcher seemed a little too "gruff" for me and at times bordered on rudeness with his snark, not to mention he and Mallory's original meeting still has not been expanded on, unless I am actually supposed to reconcile myself with the fact that the force of the universe gravitated them to one another. If so, am I to blame the Forces for their, (hate to say it), almost easy-sex pace, the hook-up that I am now meant to take is true love? Doubtful.

However I am quick to forgive. Because the chemistry between Ethan and Merit was smoking enough to pull my attention from Catcher and Mal's sex drama. Ethan was the main man, he was boss! Seriously, and he isn't even perfect! The guy has to be the most pretentious male lead I have ever met, and I don't even care. By the way, anyone else notice how that never happens, flaws I mean? The guy-toy always has to be impossibly correct in all three categories.

As are the following:

-Freaking perfect Edward Cullen hair (check)

-Perfect body (Ethan has that too)

-And excellent behavioral tendencies, humbleness, etc. (Huh, nope.) BTW Patch does not count in this list, dude wanted Nora dead for like 3/4 of hush,hush; I do not support abuse! Or Fallen angels who like to touch but not feel (the ideal pedophile).

I loved that she mentioned it, fudge! that she even had the respect for her reader's intellects and their ability to pick up on it that she refused to ignore the trait, or make Merit Bella-oblivious to his shortcomings. She does not try passing off his ego as manliness and certainly doesn't make the mistake of sweeping under the rug his issues with trust or committing to relationships.

She brings those faults to light. And I'm a fan because of it. Everything regarding my confusion over how sorcery in this book works aside, I respect her and will read this series to the end. Because of Ethan, and because Ms. Neill thinks I'm smart. The events that took place left me a bit skeptical to how good of a heroine Merit would be, but the other books make up for it and she becomes more sure of herself. Thankfully!
